Not Just Eminem, 50 Cent is Thankful to Another Rap Legend for Mentoring Him

50 Cent is a big shot in the entertainment industry, primarily gaining prominence due to rapping. From making noise with his 2003 debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, he also ventured into business and acting, cementing his enduring influence in Hollywood.

Back in 2020, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To express his gratitude, he gave a shoutout to Eminem and his other close friend, Dr. Dre.

50 Cent is Grateful to Eminem and Dr. Dre for Their Mentorship!

Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, is a highly influential figure in the music industry. He initially gained attention as a member of the pioneering rap group N.W.A (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) in the late 1980s.

Back in the late 1990s, he founded Aftermath Entertainment, which is home to many talented artists like Eminem and 50 Cent. Dr. Dre played a crucial role in 50 Cent’s rise to fame, which is the reason why he is also grateful for the latter.

As he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 2020, he delivered a heartfelt speech, thanking the former for his contribution to his successful professional life.

He shared via Billboard,

“I don’t think my career would’ve been what it was without [Dr. Dre and Eminem‘s] support.”

He continued,

“Dre is a mentor for the whole squad. He was a mentor for the whole squad because he could guide us in different ways without even him knowing it.”

While his heartfelt speech is more than enough to give a glimpse of how much influence Dr. Dre has on the actor’s life, many would be surprised to know that he was hesitant to sign him on the label. It was his other buddy Eminem, who introduced Curtis James Jackson aka 50 Cent to the iconic producer. The latter signed a joint contract with Eminem’s Shady Records label and Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment.

While the hip-hop industry is filled with beef, 50 Cent’s relationship with the duo has been nothing but great. Not only did they have a great part in his gaining prominence, but they also have frequently collaborated together, yielding great results.

Back in 2020, he spoke on Jimmy Kimmel Live about his bond with the duo, while addressing having any feud with the Slim Shady. He stated,

“Never with Em because he’s done everything for me. He provided my opportunity and from there… Dre is like to Em what Em is for me, and so having us together, it’s the coolest thing.”

Overall, the trio forged a strong bond as they continued to strengthen their professional business. Last year, he reflected on his long-term relationship with the hip-hop influential figures on his Instagram.

He shared an old reel featuring the trio getting interviewed by MTV News on his In Da Club music video set. In the caption, he wrote,

“I’m so blessed to have worked with the best ever. you can re-write a book, you can re-write a song but you can’t re-write history. The 3 headed monster EM, DRE and 50cent.”

He shared the reel in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his landmark debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. The album is now 9x-Platinum certified, becoming one of the best-selling albums during its debut and gaining a spot in the greatest albums of all time.
