The Belgian customs and tax authorities are targeting Nike for a total amount of 1.5 billion euros. The sportswear giant is said to be a champion in tax avoidance by using a fiscal trick. The Belgian tax authorities are fed up with this and are therefore taking action. Tax expert Michel Maus (VUB) explains what this means for the distribution centre in Laakdal that employs 7,000 people. “If it comes to a lawsuit, it will be a procedural battle with only losers.”
