Reo Hatate pounced on a goalkeeping error to make it 3-1 in the second period, sealing a memorable night at Parkhead.

And Kuhn was full of praise for the home support after the game.

He said: “It was an unbelievable night, the fans were amazing and we are so happy to get the three points.

“We are in a good position now and at Celtic Park, anything is possible with our fans behind us.

“We played some really good football and the fans were unbelievable.

“To hear the anthem at the start, it was just amazing, this is what dreams are made of.”

The German was playing his former youth side in Leipzig, and savoured the feeling of bagging his first goals on the biggest stage against them – as well as clarifying just what happened for his first goal.

He said: “Of course I enjoyed it – it was my first two Champions League goals and you have to enjoy it.

“The first goal was a shot, I went into a dribble and I saw the goal and took a shot and I was happy that it went in.

“It’s even better that I scored against my former club and I am really happy.

Celts keeper Kasper Schmeichel enjoyed the win even more on his 38th birthday, and Kuhn paid tribute to the shot-stopper too.

He continued: “We know how important Kasper is for us, he made himself a good birthday present!”
