After confirming earlier this week he had been dealing with a laundry list of injuries that required “having a lot done,” it appears Evander Kane is on the mend.
The Edmonton Oilers forward posted an Instagram story on Friday from a hospital bed with the caption: “Successful surgery, long road ahead but very grateful for my amazing surgeons and nurses.”
Kane’s update comes after he had told reporters on Wednesday that he felt something wrong in late October and things got worse in the following months.
The 33-year-old endured the many ailments throughout the season but was eventually sidelined for the Oilers’ Stanley Cup Final series, missing five of seven games against the Florida Panthers. He had 24 goals and 20 assists in 77 regular-season games before adding four goals and four assists in 20 playoff games.
Edmonton’s general manager Stan Bowman on Wednesday confirmed that Kane would not start the season on LTIR despite the forward likely missing all of training camp and the start of the regular season as he recovers from surgery to repair both abductors, two hernias and two abdominal tears.

Kane is optimistic that his multiple procedures will not cost him the entire 2024-25 season, but Bowman went on to say that the 15-year vet would “be out a while.”
