Oilers’ Kane out at least 5-6 months after abdominal surgery

Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane underwent successful abdominal surgery and will be out a minimum of five to six months, the team announced Monday.

Kane had surgery to repair both abductors, two hernias and two abdominal tears on Friday.

The 15-year veteran told reporters last week he felt something wrong in late October last season and things got worse in the following months.

Kane recorded 44 points (24 goals and 20 assists) in 77 games during the regular season and added eight points (four goals and four assists) in 20 playoff games. However, he was sidelined during the Stanley Cup Final and missed five of the seven games in the series against the Florida Panthers.
