A store from America’s largest retailer of closeout merchandise and excess inventory is set to open Wednesday in McAllen.

The new Ollie’s will be located at 2246 W. Nolana Ave. — across the Whataburger in a former 99 cent store. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. and the store will be open until 9 p.m.

The newest location in McAllen is one out of ten stores opening across the state, and the third location in the Rio Grande Valley. The other two Ollie’s are located in Harlingen and Brownsville.

“We are incredibly excited to open ten more stores today in the great state of Texas where the folks have been so good to us,” Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Chief Executive Officer John Swygert said in the release.

Ollie’s is known for “unbeatable brand name closeouts at up to 70% off the fancy stores’ prices,” the release stated. The retailer offers bargains on books, flooring, food, housewares, toys, electronics, pet supplies, and beauty supplies among other products.

The release noted that with each new store opening, Ollie’s brings between 50-60 new jobs to the local community.

“With the closing of 99₵ Stores throughout the state, we’re thrilled to provide shoppers in the McAllen, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio areas with a treasure hunt experience where they can find a huge selection of brand name bargains at prices that won’t break the bank,” Swygert said.
