Police are investigating a two-car collision that left one driver dead and another in critical condition in Waterbury early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Baldwin and Lounsbury Streets around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, according to Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police Department.
Officers identified the drivers as a 22-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both of Waterbury, Bessette said. Both men, who were the sole occupants in their cars, were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, according to Bessette.
The 22-year-old driver, identified as Jayden Gonzalez, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The 32-year-old driver was listed in critical but stable condition on Sunday, Bessette said.
According to Bessette, two unoccupied parked vehicles were also struck during the crash.
This crash remains under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit, Bessette said.
