One person was killed in a motorcycle crash early Thursday when the bike left the road and hit a fence before striking a tree.
The crash was reported on Long Ridge Road in Stamford near the junction with Brook Run Lane around 12:10 a.m., according to Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the Stamford Police Department.
Booth said investigators believe the 2014 BMW motorcycle was being driven north on Long Ridge Road when it went off the right side of the road and hit a fence before striking a tree. The operator and sole person on the bike was thrown from the motorcycle, according to Booth.
The victim, a 44 year-old Stamford resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, Booth said. The victim’s identity is being withheld until their family can be notified.
The crash is being investigated by the Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
