Ever since Wano, his role as the main character has been redefined as the responsibility of liberating the One Piece world has now fallen on his shoulders. But what if he is not the main character of the series anymore, and someone else does his job for him?
According to a bizarre One Piece theory, Luffy might not be the protagonist of the prominent Elbaph arc. He might be replaced by Loki, who is assumed to be the one to destroy the Red Line, which might save the One Piece world.
Luffy’s Upcoming Difficulties As a Protagonist
Ever since Eiichiro Oda introduced the Chosen One trope in One Piece, Luffy’s responsibilities as a protagonist have increased to a whole new level. He has been deemed the reincarnation of the mysterious Sun God Nika, who is destined to save the One Piece world from the clutches of World Nobles, especially Imu and the Five Elders.
Not only that, the announcement by Dr. Vegapunk about the sinking of the world during the Egghead Island arc has also added a new problem for Luffy. As the protagonist of One Piece, it’s essentially his responsibility to stop the world from sinking to the bottom of the sea. But the only problem is that no one has told Luffy about all of his upcoming problems.
His carefree attitude and his ignorance of the issues that are not a part of his journey make him unique. But sooner or later, he might have to fulfill his role as the main character of One Piece. It all depends on how Oda makes him fulfill his upcoming roles as the main character.
One Piece Theory Claims Luffy Might Not Be The Main Character Anymore
While Luffy’s responsibilities as a protagonist have increased to a completely different level. There is a chance that he might not be the main character from here on. According to a theory posted by u/AmazingBelt on Reddit, there is a possibility that Loki might assume the role of the main character in Elbaph and help Luffy with his biggest task.
It is believed that Luffy might destroy the Redline in order to save the world from sinking and also end the tyranny of the World Nobles. But the theory states that instead of Luffy, Loki will be the one to destroy the Redline with the help of the gigantic longsword that pierces the upper layer of Redline and reaches all the way down to the lower layer.
It might be the only weapon in One Piece that is capable of destroying the Redline, and the size of it hints that only Loki can wield it. Therefore, there is a possibility that Loki may switch places with Luffy as the main character of One Piece and save the world.
