Orange County Top 10 rankings
(Records entering Sept. 17)
1. Newport Harbor (9-0): The Sailors outscored opponents 85-21 to roll to the South Coast Tournament championship.
2. JSerra (7-1): The Lions aim to learn from a 14-6 loss against Newport Harbor in the finals of the South Coast Tournament.
3. Corona del Mar (10-3): The Sea Kings fell to Mater Dei en route to an eighth-place finish at the South Coast but have defeated the Monarchs twice.
4. Mater Dei (9-4): Senior Jordan Hanna netted seven goals as the Monarchs edged De La Salle 12-11 in overtime for fifth place at the South Coast Tournament.
5. Foothill (6-5): The Knights edged Santa Margarita in overtime in the first round of the South Coast Tournament and later beat San Clemente 12-7 en route to a 14th-place finish.
6. San Clemente (6-4): The Tritons opened the South Coast Tournament with an impressive win against Mira Costa but then dropped their next four matches. Just another sign of the strength of the tournament.
7. Santa Margarita (4-3): The Eagles went 2-3 at the South Coast Tournament to place 20th out of 32 teams.
8. Laguna Beach (6-9): The Breakers beat Orange Lutheran and San Juan Hills on Saturday to take 21st at the South Coast Tournament.
9. San Juan Hills (6-4): The Stallions sank Los Alamitos 14-11 on their way to 22nd at the South Coast. It was an impressive finish for a squad seeded seventh in its group.
10. Los Alamitos (8-4): The Griffins defeated Orange Lutheran 15-9 to finish 23rd at the South Coast Tournament.
