When everybody thought Elizabeth Olsen was done playing Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a new report seemingly reveals a plan to bring her back into the fold. She has become one of the most significant characters in the Avengers saga, not to mention the most powerful, and it would be a waste not to see the Scarlet Witch get her own solo film.
Similarly, the actress expressed willingness to reprise the role as long as Marvel Studios has a good story for her. Olsen isn’t closing her door for the character that brought her immense global fame, and the one she has learned to love through the years.
Scarlet Witch Solo Movie Is Reportedly In Development
For years, the rumor of a Scarlet Witch movie has been finding its way on social media, but this time, a report from Production Weekly revealed that a solo film is in the works and slated for a 2026 release.
While the source has a good track of reliable news, fans should still take this with a grain of salt. Marvel Studios has yet to confirm this and make an announcement, but more often than not, movie projects may push through or put on hold depending on certain circumstances.
Many fans are certainly hoping to see Elizabeth Olsen return to her iconic mutant role, an idea that the 35-year-old actress believes to be a possibility. “It’s a character that I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well,” she told Dublin radio outlet FM104.
The actress has previously expressed interest in exploring other roles outside the superhero realm, especially after her last appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Other Marvel actors are also trying to get their hands on roles and projects that don’t require them to wear superhero suits and harnesses.
A ‘SCARLET WITCH’ solo film is reportedly in development at Marvel Studios.
‘WANDAVISION’ writers Jac Schaeffer and Megan McDonnell are said to be attached to the film, for a potential 2026 release.

After Wanda turned full-blown villain and suffered a tragic misfortune, her fate remained unknown, and neither Olsen nor the studio would give any hint of her potential reappearance in the franchise.
This new scoop of a possible Scarlet Witch film with WandaVision writers Jac Schaeffer and Megan McDonnell reportedly attached to it could be a hint that Olsen’s enthusiasm to reprise her role means some things might be brewing at the headquarters.
Kevin Feige On Scarlet Witch’s Possible Return to the MCU
Marvel boss Kevin Feige may have unknowingly ignited fans’ hope that the rumored solo movie has potential. In a previous interview with Variety, he expressed eagerness to work with Olsen again in the future. He also confessed:
There really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics.
Olsen aired her wish for Wanda to get some sort of redemption, especially after what happened in the Doctor Strange sequel. Well, it is Marvel, and anything is possible here, even bringing back those who are seemingly dead.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently available to watch on Disney+.
