An owl was rescued after it flew into a car on Route 118 in Litchfield on Tuesday night.

A trooper responded to a portion of the highway just east of Route 254 around 8:15 p.m. after receiving the report of an injured owl, according to Connecticut State Police.

The trooper located the injured animal, wrapped it in a blanket and got it out of the road, state police said. The driver involved stayed with the owl until the trooper arrived.

According to state police, the owl was taken in by local wildlife rehabilitators who responded to the scene.
