Parker’s Timothy Merritt threw a touchdown pass and ran for two more scores and tropical storm conditions were not enough to deter a stout defense as the second-ranked Thundering Herd rolled to a 46-0 victory over Mortimer Jordan in Thursday’s Class 6A, Region 5 showdown at Major Brown Memorial Stadium in Birmingham.
“It was kind of a fun game toward the end,” Parker coach Frank Warren said. “It was a fun environment. As a kid, you always want to play in the rain but as you get older, not so much.”
