New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was non-committal on a starting quarterback for their Sunday game against the New York Giants when he spoke to media on Tuesday.
“I’ve told everyone to be ready to go,” was Belichick’s go-to response to the variety of questions surrounding his squad’s QB situation. “That’s our job right now, to prepare the team to play well on Sunday. That’s all of them. Not one of them, not two of them, but all the guys. The guys who are active, if they get a chance to play, then hopefully they’ll play well, and we’ll coach well.”

Mac Jones was the team’s starter up until their bye week, and through 10 games he has thrown for 2,031 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions for the 2-8 Patriots.
The third-year QB’s struggles culminated in him getting benched while the Patriots lost 10-6 to the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 12 in Germany. Jones threw for 175 yards and one interception in that game before being taken out.
Second-year quarterback Bailey Zappe is currently the backup to Jones.
With Jones at the helm, the Patriots offence has ranked bottom-five in the NFL for total touchdowns (15) and points per game (14.1).
In terms of how he’ll make a decision at quarterback for Sunday, Belichick kept it simple.
“It’ll be based on what I think is best for the team, and I’ve told everybody to be ready to go,” the coach said. “Hopefully they will.”
