Pennsylvania Senate Race: McCormick attends Senate orientation with potential recount looming

(WHTM) – Republican Dave McCormick is in Washington attending Senate orientation as votes continue to be counted in his race against incumbent Senator Bob Casey.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of State, the race between Casey and McCormick as of Tuesday afternoon is separated by about 33,000 votes and within the half-percent margin for an automatic recount.

The Associated Press has projected McCormick as the winner, however, votes are continuing to be counted across the state. Overseas and military ballots have until 5 p.m. on November 12 to be delivered and provisional ballots are undergoing a review process.

The Department of State says once unofficial returns from all counties are received on Tuesday afternoon the Secretary of the Commonwealth will determine whether an automatic statewide recount has been triggered in the U.S. Senate race.

Casey has continuously called for all votes to be counted in the race and on Tuesday thanked election workers for their service.
