PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Pittsburgh Pirates ace pitcher Paul Skenes was named a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award on Monday night.
He is the first rookie to be named a finalist for the award since Jose Fernandez in 2013.
The other finalists for the NL Cy Young Award are Atlanta’s Chris Sale and Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler.
Skenes posted a record of 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA for Pittsburgh. In 133 innings, he piled up 170 strikeouts.
The National League Cy Young Award winner will be announced on Wednesday Nov. 20.
