Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash after a man was found lying in the street in New Haven early Sunday morning.
New Haven Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 1455 State St. around 2:18 a.m. on Sunday on the report of a pedestrian struck, according to the New Haven Police Department.
First responders located Luis Timbila, 41, of New Haven in the roadway on State Street and provided first aid before he was pronounced dead, police said.
According to police, the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene. Witnesses described the car as a black Honda Civic with front-end damage that headed north on State Street toward Hamden with a red Honda Civic following it, police said.
The Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to conduct the ongoing investigation.
