Police are investigating two recent robberies in Wallingford within a week.
The first was reported on Nov. 8 just after 10 p.m. when officers responded to Checkers at 99 North Colony Road, according to Lt. Stephen Jaques of the Wallingford Police Department.
A suspect wearing a camouflage jacket and a ski mask made off with cash from the register, Jaques said. No weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported.
Jaques said officers could not immediately locate the suspect.
On Wednesday, officers responded on the report of another robbery just before 5:40 p.m. at the Valero gas station, located at 720 North Colony Road. The suspect in that incident was wearing a light colored Carhartt style jacket, a light hoodie underneath and a facemask.
Jaques said the robber threatened the clerk with a handgun and brandished a firearm before making off with cash from the register. The suspect could not be located by police.
No injuries were reported.
“We cannot say whether the robberies are linked,” Jaques said in a statement. “The suspect(s) remain at large and may be armed and dangerous.
“The Wallingford Police Department would like to urge business owners, residents and transients alike to be vigilant,” Jaques said. “We ask that business owners and workers ensure their surveillance systems are functioning, that they have access to telephones to call for emergency services, and that they take care to ensure they are safeguarding their staff, cash and merchandise.”
Police are still investigating both robberies and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 203-294-2800. Anonymous information can be left at police.wallingfordct.gov.
