Police looking for man who nearly struck officer during traffic stop

Police are asking the public for help identifying a man who allegedly fled a traffic stop in Plainville on Monday night and nearly struck a police officer.

The stop occurred shortly before 7:15 p.m. on New Britain Avenue in front of the Volkswagen dealership and involved a man who was driving a Mercedes, according to the Plainville Police Department.

Police said the driver initially stopped but later fled and nearly struck an officer as he did. The vehicle had Connecticut license plate BH-76241.

Police have released photos of the driver and the vehicle he was in and are asking anyone with information on his identity to contact Officer Monthei at 860-747-1616 or [email protected].
