PUBS have been forced to close after a cops locked down a busy city centre street.
Venues were ordered to shut by police after they shut streets due to a “road traffic incident” in Edinburgh.
Unformed police have put a cordon in place on the city’s Cowgate and have sealed off surrounding roads.
Bosses at Bachata Blues dance centre revealed their party at The Mash House nightclub was shuttered alongside all other businesses in the affected area.
They said: “Following police instructions, all Cowgate venues are going to be closed tonight due to a major incident.
“All ways to enter Cowgate are cut off. Unfortunately, we have to cancel tonight’s event as Mash House will remain closed all night, following police instructions.”
Blue and white police tape could be seen at the bottom of Niddry Street, which is home to a number of popular pubs and clubs.
A number were due to hold Halloween events.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Emergencies services are responding to a road traffic incident in Cowgate, Edinburgh.
“Blair Street, Guthrie Street, Candlemaker Road are closed.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
“Thank you for your patience.”
