Harry has hit the headlines in recent months over his long-running dispute to ensure he gets police protection when he and his family visit the UK.

A move which has angered some royal observers.

Harry lost close protection after stepping back as a working royal although he remains sixth in line to the throne.

Protection is given on the risk level, rather than status, with author Salmon Rushdie getting the service.

In recent years his family has been subjected to neo-Nazi and extremist threats.

While Harry’s role has changed he still remains a high-profile member of the Royal Family.

The Duke has said he will cover the cost of security to avoid the cost falling on the British taxpayer.

Mr Griffin told the paper’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson: “RAVEC, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, have decided he’s not going to get protection in this country and that’s an ongoing saga and he’s still arguing about whether he should get it or not.

“I’m not quite sure why he thinks he should get it.

“If he was coming back to take up a full Royal Family life, he would automatically get it.”

He added: “The Government are not silly, they review every visit to this country and they know all the threat assessments – whoever it is, it could be anyone – if he [Harry] needs protection he’ll be given protection.

“His excuse of security just didn’t wash because if he’s that worried about security he could have stuck with his father, who has got the best security in the land.

“I think it was just an excuse.”

Agreeing, Mr Edwards said: “It was an excuse.

“Also, he turns up for these court cases without security. He turns up for those when he’s suing newspapers or he’s suing the Home Office because he wants to get police protection.

“I agree, he’s got to start seeing things as they really are and he’s no longer welcome here, it seems.”

Addressing the recent debate whether or not Harry wanted to make a return to the UK, the photographer added: “He’s going to have to make a big, big, big act of contrition in my view, to the King, before he gets back because, quite frankly, they’re frightened to have him with them because any conversation they have could be in the next TV programme they make.

“They’re not prepared to do that anymore.

“I always believe in the parable of the Prodigal Son – everything’s possible – but at the moment it doesn’t look likely.”

At the end of August, Prince Harry came back to the UK to attend the funeral of his uncle Lord Robert Fellowes, who was his mother Diana’s brother-in-law.

Harry’s brother Prince William also attended but the siblings were not seen talking to one another.

They were said to have sat apart at the back of the church in Snettisham, Norfolk.

The brothers have barely spoken to each other since Megxit, when Harry and wife Meghan quit royal duties for a new life in the States.

Harry and William, 42, went on a walkabout at Windsor after the death of Queen Elizabeth in 2022 but have not been in the same room since the King’s Coronation more than a year ago.

POSSIBLE COMEBACK?

Speculation has also been building in recent days that Harry has asked former aides to help him plan a comeback from his US exile and spend more time in Britain.

Harry is said to be consulting people “from his old life” after growing frustrated with American PR experts.

Harry reportedly plans to spend more time in the UK in a bid to repair his relationship with King Charles.

The strategy could see a “rehabilitated” Harry stage a partial return to royal life.

PLANS FOR THIRD FOREIGN TOUR

The comments come from the royal experts as it was revealed today Harry and wife Meghan Markle are thought to be planning their third foreign tour later this year.

The destination is likely to be somewhere in Africa, with Lesotho and Botswana, where Harry’s charity Sentebale operates, under consideration.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex gained favourable publicity on their trips to Nigeria in May and then Colombia last month.

Building on the success of the two tours they are now thought to planning a further overseas trip for some point later this year, according to Hello! magazine.

An insider told the publication: “That’s his world, that’s what he’s used to and that’s what he knows. He can still add value.”

Harry is also poised to embark on a solo trip to New York City later this month to “advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives”, according to his team. his team.

Harry’s trip is thought to take place between September 23 to 27, during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week and Climate Week between September 22 and 29.
