PS 5 Pro vs PS 5 Fidelity Comparision While Playing The Last of Us 2 Remastered Doesn’t Help Sony’s Upcoming Launch at All

The Last of Us Part 2 was remastered for the PlayStation 5 and the developers of Naughty Dog took full advantage of Sony’s most powerful gaming console thus far. However, it was only a matter of time before Mark Cerny, the man behind the PlayStation 4 and 5 to one-up himself with the highly anticipated Pro model. After months of speculations, leaks, and rumors, Sony finally unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro boasting a much more powerful console than the base models released four years ago with a premium price tag.

The Pro model is an upgraded version of the base model and fans are convinced it is a sizeable upgrade. Perhaps this Pro model will live up to its name better than its predecessor of the previous console generation and provide the definitive gaming experience for other high-quality PlayStation exclusives.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Looks Better Than Ever on the PlayStation 5 Pro

The controversial sequel initially launched for the PlayStation 4 and ran significantly better and smoother on the Pro model. Director Neil Druckmann once stated he designed the game to run smoothly across all PlayStation 4 models; however, the gaming community will likely invest in the better and superior console for the best experience. Naughty Dog could be actively working on the next sequel, and it could likely benefit from the graphical horsepower of the PlayStation 5 Pro should the studio release it before this console generation is over.

Mark Cerny officially revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro after months of rumors and it is everything the gaming community expected it to be. Sony celebrated the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand and inadvertently revealed the official first look of the PS5 Pro. Cerny spoke highly of the new features that involve advanced ray tracing which is what the base model is renowned for, an upgraded GPU, and upscaling with the use of artificial intelligence called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, and all of these can make any game look better on a great display.

The Last of Us Part 2 pushed the PlayStation 4 to the absolute limit and ran perfectly. The game looked and performed well on the PlayStation 5 with the free performance patch and was later remastered for a native version. The PS5 Pro will take everything great from the base model and allow players to play the game with both 4K graphics and a buttery smooth performance with higher frame rates simultaneously. Players would often debate to trade graphics over performance and thanks to the impressive horsepower of the Pro model, they can now have the best of both worlds.

The Fidelity mode on the base model would run the game at 4K graphics; however, players are stuck with 30 FPS and they have the option to play with higher frame rates while sacrificing the graphics and downscaling it to 1440p with slight upscaling to 4K quality in Graphics mode. The PlayStation 5 Pro will end this debacle which should have been the norm for this console generation years ago.

Cerny hosted a 9-minute presentation showcasing the PS5 Pro a few hours ago giving the recent report of an upcoming Showcase some credibility. The lead system architect wanted to highlight how much more powerful this console is compared to the base and slim models and used a brief gameplay comparison between the Fidelity mode of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered running on the launch model and a native PlayStation 5 Pro version, and the difference is night and day.

Recent reports suggest the PS5 Pro will have cutting-edge technology that not even present gaming PCs have. The leaked spec sheets claim the hardware for this new console is no joke and could be a massive leap from the base models.

The graphical improvements may not be easily perceived by the naked eye, especially for players who are not interested in graphics and are satisfied with a smooth gaming experience. Modern video games are breaking the boundaries between realism and man-made technical wonders and Cerny has taken another step forward in the right direction.

Players can see the graphical differences between playing The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on Fidelity mode on the base PlayStation 5 and compare it to the native PS5 Pro model; however, some remain skeptical about the visual differences.

Other fans remain optimistic and are excited to replay the universally acclaimed game on the PS5 Pro.

Regardless of how different the visuals and performance will be, Cerny continued to innovate and offer a great gaming experience. Hopefully, fans will give it a chance before tearing into this monstrosity of a gaming console.
