Rangers’ Artemi Panarin, Ryan Lindgren suffer injuries in game vs. Islanders

The New York Rangers‘ depth might be tested early following a concerning pre-season game against the Islanders.

Rangers forward Artemi Panarin and defenceman Ryan Lindgren both exited Tuesday’s game early after they sustained lower-body and upper-body injuries, respectively.

According to Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette, Panarin is still being evaluated. He left the game near the six-minute mark in the third period, however, it’s unclear how the four-time All-Star was hurt.

The 32-year-old led the Rangers with 49 goals and 71 assists last season.

Lindgren, 26, exited in the first period after getting into a fight with Islanders defenceman Scott Mayfield. The team later announced that he would not return for the remainder of the game.

The Burnsville, Minn., native had three goals and 14 assists last season.
