Rangers fans relish Ibrox return although ‘enough is enough’ banner and empty spaces show not everyone is happy

IT’S a welcome return to their home ground of Ibrox after their early season exile at Hampden for Rangers fans.

But these remain turbulent times at the club, which is currently without a chairman or chief executive.

That’s after John Bennett’s shock decision last week to step down from the club amid health concerns.

Not to mention the club’s ill-fated attempt to recruit Jim Gillespie from St Mirren as replacement to the departed James Bisgrove.

Former chairman Dave King – still the club’s largest single shareholder – has offered to take control for what he sees as a two-year job to try to find fresh investment.

King has called for an EGM to let the fans decide who they want to take over.

Results haven’t been great either – with the Ibrox men going five points down on Celtic at the top of the Premiership table early on and crashing out of the Champions League.

And fans are still clearly far from happy, with a group of fans unveiling a banner immediately opposite the main entrance of the ground.

It declared simply: “Enough is enough. We demand better.”

A number of empty seats spotted for tonight’s Premier Sports Cup clash – which isn’t on the season ticket.

A similar banner was spotted prior to a Philippe Clement Q and A at the club’s Edmiston House events venue recently.

But most Gers fans remain supportive of the Belgian – with the main concerns seemingly being raised in relation to the board.

Blair Haldane, 37, of Bothwell, said: “It’s good to be back, Hampden was okay but the atmosphere wasn’t the same, it’s quieter and you’re further away from the pitch.

“I’ve been coming here 30 years so it’s good to be back to what you know, and hopefully that shows with the players as well today.”

Callum Turner, 31, of Clarkston, said: “It’s great to be back home, it really hasn’t felt like home so hopefully the team will feel that.

“I’ve been sitting around the same people for years and I’ve not been able to see them, so I’m really looking forward to it.
