‘Rangers pub’ one of two Glasgow pubs sold as owners retire

‘Rangers pub’ one of two Glasgow pubs sold as owners retire

The prices paid for the Black Bull, on the corner of High Street and Blackfriars Street in the city centre, and The Old Quarry Bar at Toryglen have not been disclosed.

The Old Quarry Bar has been sold to a local operator who plans to redevelop the property, while The Black Bull has been sold to an existing multiple operator.

Tony Spence, associate director at Christie & Co, said: “We are delighted to have been instructed by our clients to market four wet-let pubs across Glasgow and surrounding areas. Significant interest has been received across all four properties and we are delighted to announce that two have now been sold, another under offer and we look forward to receiving further enquiries on the Vogue bar in Rutherglen.”

Christie & Co said: “Situated on the corner of High Street and Blackfriars Street in the city centre, The Black Bull sits at the heart of the community and is within close proximity of hotels, shops and restaurants, as well as transport links such as High Street Station a short walk away. Housed within a stone building, the bar currently operates as 100% wet sales.

“Down in Toryglen, southern Glasgow, The Old Quarry Bar is a popular pub and lounge, often referred to as a ‘Rangers pub’. The pub is surrounded by residential streets and other local businesses, with the main town centre a two-minute walk away.”

Christie & Co announced in May it had been appointed to bring to market Best Cellars Ltd, a portfolio comprising Vogue and The Old Quarry Bar, The Black Bull on High Street in the city centre, and Brechins Bar in Govan. It said then that the pubs were available as a package or separately.
