The Pale Hawk, a bird species that has been on the Red List of Threatened Species for quite some time, was photographed for the first time this year in Papua New Guinea. This happened during an expedition by the Belgian branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), known in the Netherlands as the World Wildlife Fund. The Pale Hawk was last documented in 1969. “Now it turns out that this is even the very first time that this bird species has been photographed,” says Veerle Hermans of WWF.
