Alia “Lia” Shelesh, better known as SSSniperWolf, started her YouTube journey in 2013. Since then, she has garnered 34 million+ subscribers on YouTube, successfully establishing herself as a prominent figure in the gaming industry.
Her parents have always supported her, in fact, she even dropped out of college. However, they were “super strict.” In a past interview, SSSniperWolf explained that she and her brothers had a lot of restrictions. In her spare time at home, she spent a lot of time playing video games and very soon got addicted. She loved watching Call of Duty videos on YouTube so she thought she could also do the same since she’s at home and not really allowed to go out much.
SSSniperWolf’s Strict Parents Are The Reason Why She Started Making YouTube Videos
In 2018, SSSniperWolf appeared for an interview with Tubefilter and revealed that her parents were “super strict” and put a lot of restrictions on her and her brothers. She said,
Since my parents were super strict, we were not allowed to go over to our friends’ houses, parties, school dances, or even on field trips. So, I spent my time at home gaming.
In another interview, she explained that she often spent time at her home watching Call of Duty videos, so she also decided to make videos. She said (via NickiSwift), “I also loved watching Call of Duty videos on YouTube, and one day thought to myself, ‘Hey, I can do that too.’ So I started my own YouTube channel.” Initially, she didn’t gather a lot of attention but by 2017, her content blew up and she became a well-known name around the world.
SSSniperWolf’s Content Has Changed Over The Years
Initially, SSSniperWolf made gaming videos but soon she shifted to streaming. As for her YouTube channel, she mostly posts reaction videos now. In the same interview, she explained that getting content out of just gaming videos was quite stressful,
Uploading gaming videos everyday became very stressful, because I wanted the content to be both good and entertaining. I would record for several hours just to get enough clips, sometimes even feeling like the clips weren’t good enough. It was becoming too much to handle, so I began streaming instead.
SSSniperWolf is a huge icon in the gaming industry, in fact, a character based on her was added in the mobile RPG game DragonSoul. Her parents putting restrictions on her was indeed a bummer but it ignited her passion for video games. Her channel is constantly growing despite accusations of “freebooting” TikTok videos in her reaction content. The latest Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is here, so SSSniperWolf should certainly check it out as a Call of Duty veteran.
