A CHRISTMAS market ride has been branded “the winter wonka experience” after a Scots mum and her son were left majorly disappointed by the attraction.
It’s that time of year again where families can enjoy festive activities in major cities across Scotland in the lead up to the big day.
And Glasgow‘s Winterfest at St Enoch Square has been up and running since November 9.
There are a number of exciting attractions for kids to enjoy including the Star Flyer, Santa’s Runaway Train and the carousel.
But the market’s ‘Grinch Train’ has caused a stir online.
Katy O’Brien, 35, from Dundee, shared a video from the ride on her TikTok account, which she described as “the new winter wonka experience”.
She paid £10 for her and son Arlo, seven, to take a spin on the fairground attraction.
In the clip, the pair are sitting in what appears to be an old ghost train carriage.
As it turns the corner into the ride, twinkling lights decorate the ceiling with some random Grinch merchandise hanging from the roof as the train heads up a small incline.
Some socks appear to be hanging on a line, along with a red Grinch jumper and an elf cooking apron.
There are some Santas and candy canes to the side as extra festive decoration.
As the train heads back outside, the ride is decorated with the animated Grinch character, his dog Max and a sign to Mount Crumpit.
The carriage then turns back inside through black curtains before a short quick drop.
A Grinch mannequin stands at the end of the ride with a bag for life with the green character’s face on it.
The attraction lasted just over a minute.
Katy said she was excited to go on the attraction when she saw it from the outside, but was left disappointed by the inside.
She wrote on TikTok: “The new winter wonka experience. This ride should be shut down.
“£10 it was for me an my son to go on! Disgrace!”
Other users on the social media platform flocked to the comments after the video was posted earlier this week.
One person said: “So basically it’s a wee cart to take you round and show you the Grinch section of Primark.”
Another wrote: “No Christmas music playing or nothing. Just the sound of the ride.”
A third added: “The Primark pyjamas held up with B&M Christmas lights would’ve been my final straw.”
While a fourth commented: “Looks like it was actually made by the Grinch himself.”
