Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Could Team Up With Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Doomsday
Avengers: Doomsday, the eagerly awaited fifth film in the Avengers saga, has fans buzzing with anticipation. Although details are scarce, new reports hint at a surprising alliance between two of the MCU’s most powerful villains.
Industry insider Grace Randolph recently shared that Elizabeth Olsen could likely return in her popular role of Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch in the MCU. And this time, she could be joining forces with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Rumors also suggest that Olsen would be reprising her role as Wanda in the primary continuity on Earth 616, not as a variant, suggesting that her character may have survived the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Such a powerful team-up of notorious figures could create a morally complex and high-stakes storyline, promising unparalleled chaos in the MCU.
Wanda’s journey has been deeply layered, shifting from a grieving mother in WandaVision to a formidable sorceress in Multiverse of Madness, marking both moments of strength and tragedy.
Additionally, Olsen has also expressed her interest in reprising her role in the MCU, stating she’s open to reprising her role as long as the character’s story is compelling and meaningful.
Elizabeth Olsen on Reprising Her Role as Scarlet Witch in the MCU
Elizabeth Olsen has recently reflected on the possibility of reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch. During an interview with FM104, she shared that she would be happy to return if “there’s a good way to use her” character.
It’s a character that I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well, and I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well — I think people didn’t know what to do with me for a second there… if there’s a good way to use her I’m always happy to come back.
Olsen made her MCU debut in the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier and has since frequently appeared in the franchise alongside the Avengers. However, her character took a villainous arc in her last appearance in the franchise in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The actress has also expressed eagerness to see if there is a way to bring her character back. While the odds remain uncertain, recent rumors do suggest that fans will get to see the character back in the MCU.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on 1 May 2026.
