Spoiler Alert !!!
Spoiler Warning for The Penguin Episode 7
The Penguin’s penultimate episode delivered an intense and shocking ending that immediately set things up for an epic showdown between Sofia Gigante and Oz Cobb. Episode 7, entitled ‘Top Hat’, revealed Penguin’s history and what ultimately led him to his dark path.
After that incredible scene – a massive explosion that shook Gotham City – many viewers might be wondering if Bruce Wayne will finally show up. This incident is indeed a Batman-level threat, and there’s no way HBO would miss this chance to give fans something to cheer on.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman Should Appear in The Penguin Episode 8
In Episode 7, the audience had a glimpse of Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobb’s childhood. He was seen living with his mother and two brothers. It was evident that he did not have a great bond with his siblings, and he yearned for his mom’s love as well.
The next scene saw the brothers play in the underground tunnels, and Oz was enraged after his siblings climbed down a narrow shaft in the sewers, a place he could not reach. In turn, he locked the door and left them there to drown. He went back home and finally, he spent alone time with his mom.
The present-day reveals Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Gigante (nee Falcone) abducts Oz’s mother. The Penguin offered to trade his Bliss supply in exchange for his mom. She agreed; however, there’s a surprise for Cobb: a van was sent to his den which was loaded with explosives. He jumped into the sewer and managed to survive. Unfortunately, when he escaped from the rubble, he was caught by Sofia’s men.
This suspense-filled ending for Episode 7 left fans wishing for one thing – for Robert Pattinson’s Batman to show up in the season finale. As mentioned, this massive threat has endangered a lot of innocent people and even destroyed Crown Point. If anything, the writers could at least give fans something to hold on to, such as lighting up the sky with a Bat Signal or a mention of his name.
The creatives behind The Penguin might have planned not to involve Bruce Wayne in the series for fear of overshadowing Oz’s narrative. Still, it would be difficult to see the world of Gotham and not have a little clue on Batman’s whereabouts.
