Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. makes history with second 30-30 season

Bobby Witt Jr. set two MLB records with one stolen base Tuesday night.

The Royals superstar swiped his 30th bag of the season Tuesday against the Tigers. That, combined with his 32 home runs gives him a second-straight 30-30 season.

At 24 years and 95 days, Witt is the youngest player in MLB history to collect multiple 30-30 seasons. He is also the first shortstop to have multiple 30-30 seasons.

In just his third year in the majors, Witt is on track to be an MVP finalist after helping the Royals get back into the playoff race. Entering play Tuesday, Witt is on track to win the batting title by hitting .332/.384/.600 with an MLB-leading 200 hits.

The Royals at 82-69 hold the second AL wild-card spot and are poised to reach the playoffs for the first time since winning the World Series in 2015.
