The American League playoff picture is complete, although there will still be some jockeying for position.
The Kansas City Royals (86-74) clinched the final AL wild-card spot after the Minnesota Twins lost to the Baltimore Orioles Friday night. The Royals lost to the Braves earlier Friday but clinched by virtue of being three games ahead of the Twins with two games left for each team on the schedule.
This marks the first time the Royals will compete in the playoffs since winning the World Series in 2015. It also comes one year after a disappointing campaign in which they set a team record with 106 losses.
The other AL playoff teams are the Yankees, Guardians, Astros, Orioles and Tigers.
