Nick Saban is being reminded by his family his weekly picks on “College GameDay” aren’t going well.
The former Alabama coach, 72, said he got called out by her granddaughter recently.
“She said, ‘Papaw, you’re not picking very well,’” Saban said. “I said, ‘I know.’ She said, “I know what you should do. Whatever team you think is going to win, pick the other guys, and you’ll be fine.’”
With that said the “GameDay” analyst didn’t mince words when giving his pick for Alabama-Wisconsin.
“Roll Tide Roll, baby,” Saban said.
Saban was in good spirits Saturday, singing with Pat McAfee to the live performance by Darius Rucker.
The 72-year-old former coach explained what has been the Tide’s biggest problem to this point in the season,
The rest of the panel – along with guest picker, South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley – agreed.
“I think Alabama’s running game is going to take over and wear Wisconsin’s defense out,” Desmond Howard said. “I have Alabama winning a close game.
Staley stayed with the SEC.
“I’m gonna Roll Tide Roll, because I can’t go against coach Saban,” she joked.
Pat McAfee and Lee Corso were riding the Tide, while Kirk Herbstreit thinks offensive line play will be crucial.
“They get their tackles back,” Herbstreit said of Alabama’s offensive line. “They have looked very average up front. With them back, they will weather the storm early.”
