‘Sad but necessary’ cry NC500 locals as council installs ‘do not use as toilet’ sign at Scots beauty spot

COUNCIL chiefs have been forced to install a ‘do not use as toilet’ sign at a Scots beauty spot after months of locals finding piles of human waste along the NC500.

Angry residents on the North Coast 500 have been discovering vile heaps of human waste in their touristy hometowns over the summer.

Dubbed Scotland‘s Route 66, the Scots beauty trail attracts millions of visitors each year – many of whom set up camp in the scenic spots.

But NC500 residents have grown increasingly tired of the daily disruption that some tourists are creating.

With motorhome drivers causing traffic jams, “eejit” tourists blocking narrow country roads and “manky mingers” destroying picturesque areas by leaving faeces in their wake, Highlanders have become sick fed up with the disrespect their hometowns are being treated with.

Now, Highland Council have been forced to intervene.

Struie Hill Viewpoint is known for its beautiful vistas over the Dornoch Firth.

But after months of people leaving their mess at the countryside hotspot, council bosses have had to erect a sign urging visitors not to.

The sign reads: “Please do not use this area as a toilet. The nearest public toilets are in Alness (South) or in Argay (North).

“If you can’t make it, please ‘bag and bin’ all waste.”

The sign also features a QR code which leads users to a map of all the public toilets in the Highland Council area.

Locals took to Facebook to react to the new signage.

NC500 Shocker: Human Waste Outrage

One wrote: “It’s a sad but necessary state that this sign is required… I wonder if the people who do this think it’s OK to sh*t in their own neighbourhood, local laybys and parks. I think not …somehow they reserve this for their holidays….. It makes no sense to me from basic human values.”

Another said: “Admire the view but do not try to breathe in the fresh air, thanks to the sh*t left behind by ignorant, selfish morons using this beauty spot as a toilet.”

A third added: “Sad it has come to this, feel sorry for the proper nice tourists that come to enjoy the beautiful views.”

We previously told of how a birdwatcher got more than he bargained for when a vile NC500 tourist spoiled his view in the most disgusting way possible.

The local was keeping an eye on Wheatear when a campervan pulled up at the side of the road.

He was horrified when the man hopped out a did a poo on the grass verge.

The birdwatcher said: “The guy drove up in a black campervan, squatted down and did his dirty business.

“Then he wiped himself, threw it away and went back to his van. I had the full view in my binoculars.”
