Scarlett Johansson Defended How She Practised Kissing Scenes Before Getting it on With Bradley Cooper

Acting might seem easy on the outside, but is a tremendously troublesome job where one scene can ruin the entire feel of a project. Whether it involves something as easy as drinking coffee to kissing scenes, actors need to be perfect at everything they do to make the experience as real as possible.

And when it comes to acting, the Marvel star Scarlett Johansson is known to have a few tricks up her sleeves, even when it involves kissing scenes.

Scarlett Johansson Defends Her ‘Kissing Practice’ Tactics

Scarlett Johansson is an actress known best for her dynamic portrayal across genres. Whether it is fighting off a couple of aliens in the middle of New York City or running a zoo, the actress can do any job with finesse and ease. Even when it comes to kissing, the actress is known to be one of the best ‘kissers’ in Hollywood even though Matt Damon might have had a bad experience with her (see LADbible).

And one of the reasons why she might be good at kissing is her way of ‘practicing’ kissing. Back in 2010, the actress starred opposite Bradley Cooper in the film He’s Just Not That Into You. During a press junket, the actress was asked if she had ever practiced kissing and she revealed how as kids people would usually practice kissing on ‘pillows’ or on the back of their hands.

While according to Johansson, her previous interviewer, who was a man, was left shocked that anyone would do that, another interviewer (a woman) agreed with her unusual tactic. Having previously misjudged her for apparently being weird, Bradley Cooper listened in shock and awe to which the Marvel star promptly remarked ‘Okay, I’m not a freak.’

As they shared a laugh, Cooper hilariously added that guys practice kissing each other while having football matches and hanging out instead of making out with their pillows.

Matt Damon Had a Terrible Experience Kissing Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson has been in the film industry for a long time and has understandably locked lips with several actors over the years. From kissing Bradley Cooper in He’s Just Not That Into You to kissing Hugh Jackman in Scoop, the actress is just as brilliant at kissing as she is performing action scenes.

However, her We Brought a Zoo co-star Matt Damon had a terrible experience making out with the actress during the shoot of the film. While promoting his Oscar-winning flick, Oppenheimer, last year, the actor was discussing kissing scenes and bad breath with LADbible and he remarked,

What happened was, we did a shot before lunch, and it was this nice little two-shot that ended in the kiss. And it was really good. And we went to lunch, and she and I both thought it was over, but it wasn’t.

Damon then went on to reveal what made their on-screen swoon-worthy romantic moment a disaster,

‘Oh s**t.’ She goes ‘I literally just had, I had like an onion sandwich.’

While the actor looks upon the memory fondly now, it must certainly have been terrible, embarrassing, and hilarious for the two co-stars to shoot their kissing scene. The above two anecdotes reveal a new side of showbiz and celebrities, proving that being an actor is not as glamorous as it might seem.

We Bought a Zoo is available to be streamed on Disney+.
