A man was seriously injured on Monday when the scooter he was driving left Route 12 in Lisbon and struck a mailbox.
The crash was reported around 3:15 p.m. in the area of 214 River Road, where a 60-year-old New London man was driving a 50cc scooter north before leaving the right side of the road, according to Connecticut State Police.
The man struck a mailbox belonging to a residence and was thrown from the moped, suffering serious injuries, state police said. He was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich.
