Tuskegee University is again among the top five historically Black colleges and universities in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report.
This year, it’s ranked No. 3 in the country, up one spot from last year.
Four other HBCUs made the 2025 list:
32nd: Alabama A&M University
36th: Alabama State University and Oakwood University (tie)
55th: Talladega College
Tuskegee also was ranked by U.S. News as one of the top 10 universities in the South.
While the U.S. News doesn’t determine the best college for every student, this list is popular. Its methodology includes 18 indicators, such as graduation rates and student-to-faculty ratios.
One change to the methodology was the removal of six-year bachelor’s graduation rates of first-generation students as a ranking factor, favoring Pell Grant student graduation instead.
More rankings for Alabama colleges and universities were released this week.
