Birmingham police and firefighters are on the scene of a shooting that possibly resulted in mass casualties late Saturday night.
Police said the incident happened in the Five Points South area. The shooting possibly happened in a bar.
Police have streets blocked off as hundreds of people are gathered in the area.
Few details were immediately available.
Prior to this incident, there had been 118 homicides in Birmingham this year.
Of those, eight have been ruled justifiable and two happened in previous years and died in 2024.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 150 homicides including the 118 in Birmingham.
