A suspect was arrested and taken to the Mobile County kail after he allegedly hit a man with a hammer, killing him, police said.
Officers responded to the Azalea Pointe Apartments at 651 Azalea Rd. around 11:42 p.m. Monday in reference to a homicide investigation, said police spokesman Blake Brown.
Officers found a male victim — later identified as 30-year old Aprentice Ethridge — dead inside a unit with blunt force trauma injuries.
Detectives later learned Ethridge and the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Jaylen Tytus, “were involved in a discussion about [Tytus’] girlfriend” when the suspect hit Ethridge with a hammer, police said.
Police located Tytus on Tuesday and took him to Mobile County Metro Jail.
Jail records showed Tytus was booked on a charge of murder.
