A high school in Manchester was dismissed early on Friday after officials found suspected fentanyl in a bathroom.
Authorities first became aware of the suspected drugs when security at Howell Cheney Technical High School reported to a School Resource Officer shortly after 10:30 a.m. that a suspicious powdery substance was found on the floor in a bathroom, according to Connecticut State Police.
The substance was field tested and is suspected to be fentanyl, state police said.
The school was dismissed early as a precaution, though state police noted that no injuries or exposures were reported.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and there is no threat to the public at this time,” state police said in a statement.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact the School Resource Officer, Trooper Justin Nunez, at 860-534-1000 or [email protected].
