Sydney Sweeney Had a Severe Case of Imposter Syndrome While Filming Eden After Watching Daniel Brühl and Ana de Armas Get to Work

In recent years, Sydney Sweeney has quickly become a household name. Ever since her stint in HBO’s 2019 show, Euphoria, the actress has bagged numerous other roles. From rom-coms like Anyone But You to action-packed superhero films like Madame Web, she has done it all. However, during the filming of her latest project, Ron Howard’s Eden, the star admitted to feeling rather out of place amongst her well-known co-stars.

After all, the 27-year-old had grown up fawning over Jude Law, Ana de Armas, and Daniel Brühl. During the recent Toronto International Film Festival this year, Sweeney continued to give her fans some insight into her own feelings on set.

Sydney Sweeney felt out of place on the set of Eden

Sydney Sweeney might be Hollywood’s rising star. However, she too sometimes feels like her luck is just too good to be true. In a recent interview with Collider, the young star admitted that being surrounded by such amazing actors as Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Daniel Brühl, Vanessa Kirby, and even the director, Ron Howard. In fact, she claimed that watching them work on the set of Eden had even given her the feeling of being an impostor among them.

I felt like I just had imposter syndrome the whole time I was there working with Daniel and Jude [Law] and Ana and Vanessa [Kirby] and Ron.

Sweeney continued, “Every day I was like, “Oh my gosh, I cannot believe I’m here. Am I supposed to be here? Did they make a mistake? Am I the wrong person?” So for me, I was nervous. I faced a lot of fears just even being there because everyone is such an amazing actor. I was like, “What am I doing?” While the actress may have had her doubts, the TIFF premiere of the film proved that she had been the perfect casting.

Apart from sharing insights into her latest role, Sweeney also wound up revealing her reaction to finding out that Howard’s Eden was actually based on a true story.

Sydney Sweeney could not believe Eden was based on a true story

Just last year, it was announced that Sydney Sweeney had been cast in Ron Howard’s Eden. Although the director had wanted to bring the story to life ever for years, it wound up taking him close to a decade to actually do so. While he may have been prepared for the unhinged tale from the Galápagos islands, his chosen stars were not. In an interview with The Wrap, the 27-year-old actress recalled reading the survival thriller’s script for the first time and realizing that it was based on a real story.

You read all these crazy characters, there’s no way that they all are real, and they all come together and they have all these experiences.

Sweeney continued, “But then I went and I read Dora [Strauch’s] book, and I read Margret [Wittmer’s] book, and I found all the newspaper clippings of all their stories and it’s the most wild account of people just put together.” The fact that the story was rooted in history also ended up throwing her co-star, Ana de Armas for a spin.

Armas stated, “I had no idea about it, and I definitely thought it was crazy, and it was very brave and it’s just the unthinkable.” With the stars of the film unable to wrap their heads around the basis, there is no saying how fans could react to the 1930s story of a group of individuals wanting to start a new life in the isolation of the Galápagos.
