Tennessee man dies in Lake Guntersville boating mishap while fishing with bow and arrows

A Tennessee man died Sunday night while bowfishing on Lake Guntersville, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Sgt. Jeremy J. Burkett said the incident happened at about 10:20 p.m. in Mud Creek on Lake Guntersville in Jackson County.

Christopher Gray, 43, of Dellrose, Tenn., was fishing with a bow and arrows as a passenger onboard an airboat.

According to Burkett, the vessel struck a tree limb. Gray was thrown into the rear of the boat against the cage surrounding the propeller.

He was later pronounced dead on the scene.

The boat’s operator, Ty W. Whisenant, 43, of Union Grove, was uninjured during the collision.
