‘The Bear’ jumps out to an early lead at Emmys 2024 with comedy wins – Orange County Register

“The Bear” jumped out to a quick lead in the comedy categories with wins for best actor, best supporting actor and best supporting actress at the 76th annual Emmy Awards on Sunday.

Jeremy Allen White won best actor for his role as the emotional-conflicted chef at the center of “The Bear.”

“It instilled a faith that change is possible,” White said of his character’s journey in the second season of the series. “If you’re able to reach out, you’re never truly alone.”

Ebon Moss-Bachrach won best supporting actor for his work as Richie in the series. Like White, the Emmy was his second consecutive win for “The Bear.”

Liza Colon-Zayas became the first Latina ever to win best supporting actress in a comedy for her portrayal of Tina. She drew laughter when she thanked her husband David Zayas, noting he’d told her to write a speech just in case.

“How could I think it would be possible in the presence of Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett?” she asked, mentioning her competition in the category.

“And for all the Latinas who are looking at me, keep believing and vote,” she finished. “Vote for your rights.”
