Raffey Cassidy is already proving that she can hold her own onscreen, playing Zsófia in the post-Holocaust historical epic The Brutalist, opposite Adrien Brody’s László Tóth. But the 22-year-old British actor is also cementing her status as a fashion darling, and using the Venice Film Festival to do it.
Cassidy, with the help of her longtime stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray, mixed classic Italian glamour with a British sweetness, and spent her time in Venice in a host of fabulous outfits from the likes of Miu Miu, Chanel, and Celine. “In my personal life, I unfortunately, as much as I would like [to], am not walking down my road in Chanel Couture,” Cassidy jokes. “Through my relationships with the luxury fashion houses, I can experiment with my own personal style. Being lucky enough to own accessories and clothing from these brands allows me to mix and match small independent labels with more upmarket designer brands.”
On some occasions, she leaned into the twee, like in a polka-dotted minidress with a bejeweled collar and a matching rhinestone-encrusted bag for the Miu Miu Women’s Tales photocall, or the floral Alessandra Rich dress with a ruffled collar she chose for an Aston Martin party. “I would say Miu Miu allows me to play into a more feminine character,” she says.
Her dress for the premiere of The Brutalist proved her most severe look. “I really enjoy the challenge of finding fashion pieces that align with or represent the film or occasion that I’m attending,” she says. “This helps to guide the choices I make and makes me feel most confident.” The Chanel midi dress featured a tiered tulle hem over sequined embroidery, a keyhole that ran from the neckline to the empire waist, and a dramatic built-in black veil.
