The Most Lovable Modern Family Star Broke Everyone’s Hearts After What He Did in a Podcast That is Hard to Believe

Modern Family‘s Eric Stonestreet was allegedly nasty to a podcast host, exposing a very different side to him away from his character, Cameron Tucker. The character won over audiences with his creative flair and incredibly empathetic nature in the series. However, Taylor Strecker called him the worst guest on her podcast.

Stonestreet is far from the lovable gay character in the fan-favorite sitcom. He light-heartedly described himself as “openly straight” and shared in another instance that his real-life persona came off as deadpan when compared to a cheerful Cam. Even Stonestreet admitted that he often disappointed Modern Family fans.

Eric Stonestreet is a two-time Emmy winner for his role as Cameron Tucker on Modern Family. Before his sitcom fame, Stonestreet played side characters in TV shows, like CSI, NCIS, Bones, and The Mentalist. The role of Cam was unlike anything he played before and he played to his strength in dramatics to make the character lovable.

However, he appears not to be as friendly as Cam. Taste of Taylor podcast host Taylor Strecker shared her experience with the actor during a guest appearance on Paige DeSorbo’s Amazon Live show. DeSorbo asked about the worst guest she had on her podcast and Strecker replied that it was Stonestreet.

Strecker shared that while she thought him to be the chubby, sweet, and funny guy from Modern Family, he was pretty nasty to her. Apparently, Stonestreet was more interested in promoting his partnership with Pepto-Bismol on Strecker’s show. The actor partnered with the Procter & Gamble brand in 2011 at the height of his fame.

Strecker shared that when she joked about Stonestreet’s intention to talk more about Pepto-Bismol, he rudely shared that the host didn’t do her homework. The host too snapped back and the conversation apparently didn’t go well since the interview never appeared online. Strecker shared on Paige DeSorbo’s Amazon Live show:

Eric Stonestreet… He’s from Modern Family, and he’s like the chubby, jolly, sweet, funny one. Could he be anything but? Nasty! So we’re talking, we’re talking. I’m like, you know, just being my adorable self. And he’s like, ‘So when are we gonna talk about Pepto-Bismol?’

I said, ‘I have hemorrhoids. I’m the queen of diarrhea. I love Pepto-Bismol! We can talk about whatever you want.’ And he said to me – and I quote – ‘Somebody didn’t do their homework.’ I said, ‘I’m sorry. Am I getting paid by Pepto-Bismol? The answer is no. So that’s your job to figure out, not mine.’

DeSorbo joked that she would be calling Sofía Vergara to sort out the issue. However, the news disappointed many fans of the sitcom, some of whose favorite character on the show was Cam.

Many Modern Family fans were shocked at the podcast host’s revelation. As more accounts of Eric Stonestreet’s allegedly mean attitude appeared under a TikTok clip of the Amazon Live show, Cam’s fans were heartbroken. One fan shared, “This one hurts,” while another wrote, “Nooooooo this and the comments are breaking my heart!”

Some fans shared their personal experiences with the actor. One fan wrote, “My parents met him and said that to!”. Another shared, “I met him in person he was such an a**hole so disappointed.” One fan went on to share that they had heard the same from “multiple friends in the industry.”

Stonestreet once shared on the Dan Patrick Show that he was nothing like his character Cam. He shared that he was “not as outgoing and as fun” as his character. He often met with people’s comments like, “Are you not feeling well?” or “Is there something wrong with you?”. However, Stonestreet shared that he was just “way more low-key, deadpan and awkward” in real life.

Modern Family is now available for streaming on Hulu.
