With their Music of the Spheres tour already grossing over $1B in tickets as the band marks the end of their European leg, the four band members continues to excel both critically and financially. As for their individual net worth, Chris Martin’s financial figures currently stand at a reported $160M, making the co-founder and the frontman of the band the wealthiest among his Coldplay pals.

But his co-musicians, Guy Berryman, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, and Will Champion aren’t dragging far behind, as their net worth is estimated to be around $100M each. While the band is currently busy promoting their 10th studio album, Moon Music, amidst all the hype behind the release, the band frontman dropped a bombshell regarding Coldplay’s future.

Although fans are thrilled about Moon Music‘s release this October, ahead of the studio album’s lunch, Chris Martin confirmed that Coldplay will retire after 12 albums. Elaborating on their reasoning, the musician added that this decision was motivated by the band’s desire to control quality and leave things on a high note.

The Fix You singer further drew comparisons with the Harry Potter books and two other music icons, The Beatles and Bob Marley.

We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real. Having that limit means the quality control is so high right now and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great. And so where we could be coasting, we’re trying to improve… There’s only seven Harry Potters. There’s only 12 ½ Beatles’ albums, there’s about the same for Bob Marley, so all our heroes.

But apart from following in the footsteps of other greats of the medium, Martin expressed “I want to give the others some of their life for themselves”, which is reasonable given how much wrangling of people is involved in an album’s creation.
