The reason Scotland fans are convinced Motherwell ace Lennon Miller is nearing senior call-up

LENNON MILLER has enjoyed a superb season with Motherwell, becoming a key player for Stuart Kettlewell.

He’s even captained the Steelmen at the age of just 18, including in today’s Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Rangers.

And one familiar face in attendance at Hampden Park has set tongues wagging about a potential senior Scotland call-up for young Miller.

The midfielder has already been named in Scotland’s under-19 squad for the next international break, as the under-21s aren’t due to play.

But having helped guide Motherwell into the top half of the table whilst playing every league game, there has been talk of Miller being considered for a full call-up.

And that talk increased when Steve Clarke was spotted at Hampden for the semi-final today.

The Scotland boss has one more international break before the turn of the year, with his team set to take on Croatia and Poland in the Nations League next month.

The Scots are bottom of League A Group 1, but avoided defeat in a spirited display against Portugal last time out and were only beaten by last-minute goals in the reverse fixture in Lisbon and their first encounter with the Poles.

Clarke’s appearance at Hampden could hint that he is considering throwing Miller in sooner rather than later, and Scotland supporters took to X, formerly Twitter, to have their say on the Motherwell man’s credentials.

One supporter said: “Scotland manager Steve Clarke at Hampden for Motherwell v Rangers, Lennon Miller definitely worth a call-up.

“Captaining Motherwell today aged 18, youngest skipper in MFC history, regularly stands out, four goals/three assists from 16 appearances so far this season.”

A second said: “Can’t believe he’s going away with the Under 19s and not the senior side.”
