Vespoids in Monster Hunter Wilds – it’s probably all you have to hear to understand what we’re going to talk about. For most hunters, hearing the bug’s name is enough to trigger memories of unbelievable aggravation. You’re setting up your biggest attack yet on a larger monster, but then these flying freaks of nature come out of nowhere and stuns you.
These bugs have long been a notorious element in the Monster Hunter series, and while many fans are excited about the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, you can basically hear the community’s collective groan at the prospect of having to deal with these creatures again. There’s only one request for Capcom – please leave them behind, or fix them in the next game.
Vespoids Are Living Proof That Not All Things Deserve to Return in Every Monster Hunter Game
Just like how we’re better off leaving Bullfangos behind in the old-style Monster Hunter titles – god bless that boar – perhaps we’ll also be better off entering 2025 without Vespoids creeping in from behind.
Now, talking about the bugs’ inclusion in these games’ seriously, they’ve been a part of every mainline Monster Hunter game, and these do add to the overall immersive quality and realistic feel of the world.
But realistically, ask any seasoned hunter what it was like to have them swoop in out of nowhere, stun you, and leave you open to getting carted by the main threat. They’ll most likely start reciting a hilarious but frustrating anecdote.
Not only that, but they might also start rambling on how satisfying it was for them to finally kill these creatures during investigations. It’s a particularly frustrating problem during Master Rank hunts, where every second of immobilization is practically a death sentence.

Monster Hunter Wilds promises a more immersive hunting experience with vast, diverse landscapes, new traversal mechanics, and a deeper connection between the environment and monsters. But, as excited as we are for these innovations, the prospect of having Vespoids return does feel particularly disappointing.
If Capcom cannot outright remove them, it would be great to make these creatures’ behavior a bit more predictable. Even removing them outright from other monsters’ regular travel paths could be extremely useful. While it’s baffling that the developers insist on keeping them around, some changes with Wilds could help the overall gameplay.
The Removal of Vespoids Isn’t the Only Thing Hunters Expect to See Changed in Monster Hunter Wilds
As Monster Hunter Wilds nears its release, expectations are sky-high. Yet, despite the abundance of new mechanics and monsters, many key details remain a mystery.
The game’s flagship monster, for instance, still needs to be revealed, leaving fans speculating about its sheer scale and difficulty it will bring.
Recent trailers have introduced stunning environments, like the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest. However, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the game’s full scope.
Regardless, if Capcom nails the game’s performance, we could undoubtedly be looking at a strong Game of the Year contender. Let’s also hope we get some spray to outright terminate any Vespoids that come in contact with our hunters.
