This One Moment is Enough to Prove That Mark Anderson Would Never be Dishonest Like Gerry Turner When It Comes to Love

Well, love is sweeter the second time around, and what’s better than a generous dose of reality TV to testify to that sentiment? The Golden Bachelorette has finally rolled out its red carpet, and things are getting as interesting. Our golden girl, Joan Vasos, is back and ready for love at 61. After an unexpected twist pulled her away from The Golden Bachelor Season 1, she’s returned with a renewed sense of zest and zeal.

The cherry on top? The cast includes none other than Mark Anderson, a fan favorite who first graced our screens during Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor. This 57-year-old retired widower from Louisiana brings more life experience—than your average TV hunk. And here’s the kicker: he doesn’t seem to be dishonest like Gerry Turner when it comes to love.

Mark Anderson: The Heartfelt Contender of The Golden Bachelorette

Mark Anderson made his first appearance on Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor, where he was affectionately dubbed ‘Kelsey’s hot dad’. As a supportive father, he jumped headfirst into his daughter Kelsey Anderson’s romantic journey, even researching the ins and outs of the franchise on YouTube (via TV Insider).

And now he is taking a leap of faith himself! Competing for Joan Vassos’ final rose in The Golden Bachelorette, he’s already stolen the hearts of many fans.

Settled in Leesville, Louisiana, Anderson often finds himself reminiscing about his Minnesota roots, saying he misses having “four seasons” (via The Minnesota Star Tribune). His love story started with his late wife, Denise Anderson, whose humor hooked him from day one. He fondly recalled their first contact:

Oh, that’s the one, right there.

Sadly, she passed away in 2018 after a brave battle with breast cancer. Diagnosed in 2011, her condition took a turn for the worse in 2018, and Mark Anderson shared that the doctors initially gave her just six months. Moreover, Kelsey Anderson said on The Bachelor that his father is her go-to person, someone she trusts and relies on for support through life’s ups and downs.

My dad is really my favorite guy. Whenever anything happens, he’s the person I run to. Whenever I’m happy or I’m sad. And definitely in happy and sad moments I think that I really miss my mom but I know that I have my dad that I can lean on.

In good times and bad, he is the rock his daughter leans on—reminding us all that even in love, family comes first. This goes to show that Mark Anderson would never pull any punches like Gerry Turner when it comes to love. The former’s genuine approach shines through, proving he’s the kind of partner who plays it straight—no games, no deception. Isn’t it the definition of reliability and sincerity?

Gerry Turner, the charismatic 72-year-old lead of The Golden Bachelor. Charming? Absolutely! Great judgment? Not so much. Well his antics made it feel like he was playing a game of musical chairs with roses. In the show, he once told Leslie Fhima she was “the one,” only to hand his final rose to Theresa Nist. And as everyone knows, that relationship ended quickly.

Plus, let’s not even get started on his secretive past—turns out, Turner wasn’t as single as he claimed.

On the other hand, when Kelsey Anderson and her date, Joey Graziadei, visited Mark Anderson, he gifted his daughter a photo album filled with memories of her late mother. That’s right! It wasn’t just a random gift; it was a heartfelt gesture that said:

I want you to feel the love I had with your mother.

While Turner was busy stirring the pot with his questionable choices, Anderson was laying the foundation for a legacy of honesty and warmth. But can the latter stand up to the hype and win Joan Vassos’ heart this time around? Only time—and perhaps a bucket of roses—will tell.

Watch The Golden Bachelorette every Wednesday on ABC.
