Three people were charged late Thursday when state police allegedly found drugs, cash and a gun with a high-capacity magazine during a traffic stop on Route 7 in North Canaan.
The stop occurred around 11:15 p.m. and led troopers to suspect the occupants of the vehicle were in possession of drugs, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said two people in the vehicle allegedly gave false names before a K-9 unit was called to the scene. The narcotics detection dog alerted troopers to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, which was then searched by state police.
State police alleged that troopers found a “significant amount” of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, an unregistered handgun, a high-capacity magazine and a “large amount” of money.
Amanda Wells, 37, of New Milford was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm or ammunition and a single count each of sale of a narcotic substance, use of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine and interfering with an officer. She was held on a $25,000 bond and was expected to appear Friday in Superior Court in Torrington.
Joshua Marcy, 32, of Danbury and Dustin Yeomans, 33, of New Milford were each charged with interfering with an officer. They were released and are scheduled to face a judge on Nov. 25.
